Cockfight are regular feature of Bali temple ceremony, a combination of sacrifice, sport and gambling. Cockfight in Bali called ” Tajen ” or ” Tabuh rah “. Men keep fighting cocks as prized pets. Carefully groomed and cared for, they are lovingly prepared for their brief moments of glory or defeat. On quite afternoons men will often meet to compare their rooters, spar them against one another and line up the odds for next big bout.

You will often see the roosters by the roadside in their bell shaped cane baskets, they are placed there to be entertained by passing activity. When the festival take places, the cocks are matched one against another, a lethally sharp metal spur is tied to one leg. Then there are crescendo of shouting and betting, the bird are pushed against each other to stir them up, they are released and the feather fly. It is usually over in second ,  slash of the spur and one rooster down and dying. Occasionally a rooster turn and flees, but in that case both of a roosters put in a covered basket where they can’t avoid fighting. After the bout, the successful gamblers collect their pay-offs and the winning owner takes the dead rooster home for cooking pot.

Out side cookfigts arena, usually there are many kind of other games, like card games and dice, and olso many Balinese food seller like suckling pig ( babi guling ), Lawar, Sate etc. When you doing travel to Bali you can see the cockfight when there are temple ceremony.
